This is the word of the Lord. Thanks be to GOD. Poem Transformation BireswarHalder I am out in a journey, on a long march Aimless and wandering, I walked out Mid-way, time took a toll and the goal lost its way None stood as a beacon, the way looked endless.I forgot what the journey was worth I was lost in a bog of illusions, as if I was blind The Holy Spirit mocked me, worldly pleasures circled me I was in a hunt for the ephemeral treasures. I walked on, peace was never mine, Slowly I was in a prison-house of pleasures Wisdom dawned at last, a flash of epiphany I was transformed, now the goal was eternal peace For long I was in an accursed mazeI was bewildered, in mercy of hate and pleasures The supreme goal of peace now is dimly visible I am in the end of journey, light of peace in my hand. Prayer Kindly bow your heads, close your eyes and join your hands for prayer. Let us pray, Dear God we praise and glorify you, we thank you graciously for this new academic year. Your hand on our lives is so much more than we could ask for. Lord, help us to keep our mind focused on Your will and please transform our lives, so that we can grow in you. Help us to become aware of the Holy Spirit’s promptings, so that our heart and mind may become saturated with Jesus. Let us remain grateful to you throughout the days of our life. For in the name of Jesus Christ we pray.Amen. Let us continue by saying the Lord’s Prayer together. Pledge and National Anthem Kindly stand to attention for the Pledge and the National Anthem. Gudi Padwa Before we conclude this assembly, let us throw light on yesterday’s celebration Gudi Padwa or the Marathi New Year gets its name from two words – ‘gudi’ which means a flag or emblem of Hindu Lord Brahma and ‘padwa’ means the first day of the phase of the moon and the festival marks the beginning of the harvest season and is celebrated with much fervour and enthusiasm in the state of Maharashtra.

Good Morning School We would like to begin our Scripture Union Assembly with the Scripture portion read by Rosh , the inspirational reading by Alex and Keith, the thought for the day by Sarah and the prayer by Aaron Lobo . The Scripture reading: The Scripture reading is taken from Mathew chapter 6 verses 25 and 26. Therefore, I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry of its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. The Inspirational Reading: The presence of our Almighty God We are at the start of the new year. We do not know what kind of journey is lying ahead of us for the entire year. But we know for sure that our Good Lord is going to be with us each and every day of this year. This gives us great encouragement. An old woman and her husband were pioneer missionaries in Africa many years ago. Their work was among the cannibals. There was a feeling of fear as they approach the villages inhabited by cannibals. When they hear the beating of drums and the screaming of ritual dancers at night, often the missionary couple wonder what is going to happen to them. When the woman was asked what had sustained them for so many years in the mission field, she replied,”Our deepsense of God’s continual presence ” All of us face conflicts and threatening situations in life. Remember that we are not alone. Jesus has promised that He will neither leave us nor forsake us .He is our ever present, invisible sustainer. Sometimes in the midst of our insecure situations, in the midst of our agony and pain, in the midst of our dark moments, we may not be able to feel His presence. Our enemy will be visible to us .But believe that Jesus is standing by and telling us to move on. During World War II, a ship belonging to the British was in danger. The enemy ships were scattered about it, when it was crossing the Atlantic. The captain was given secret directions charting the route and the instruction given to him was, “Keep straight on”. After a few days out at sea, the crew spotted an enemy ship. It appeared to be following them. The captain immediately sent a coded message,”Enemy ship sighted. What shall I do?” The reply came from an unseenship “Keep straight on.I am standing by”.They couldn’t see any friendly ship, but the captain followed the instruction until the ship safely reached the port. Within a short time, a British warship came quietly into the same port. Although it had been out of sight, it was very much there to protect their ship from great danger. Today we are given the same instruction by our Almighty God, who is invisible to us,”Keep straight on. I am standing by”. With the assurance that our invisible Heavenly Father is standing by, let us move on.
