Good morning school. We would like to begin our scripture union assembly with The scripture portion read by Isha The inspirational reading by Rizpah Samaon, The thought for the day by Jenna Luke and the prayer by Nysha Shere The Scripture reading: Jesus, the Light of the world The instruction on the label is very clear: “ Needs full sun ”. Our yard has mostly shade. It is not suitable for plants that need full sun. But I liked the plant , liked its colour, liked the shape of its leaves and it’s size, I liked the fragrance of its flowers. So I bought it, brought it home, planted it in my yard, and took really good care of it .But the plant was not at all happy at my yard. My care and attention were not enough. It needed sunlight, which I could not provide. I thought I could make up for the lack of light by giving the plant some other kind of attention. But it did not work that way. Plants should be given what they needed. So with the people. Although we can survive for a while in less than ideal conditions, we can’t thrive. In addition to our basic physical needs ,we also have spiritual needs that can’t be met by any other substitute. Scripture says that we are the children of light and the light is Jesus Christ. This means that we need to live in the full light of God’s presence to thrive. If we try to live in darkness, we will not be able to reflect His light to the world. But if we are living in the light of Jesus, the light of the world, we will produce the reflection of His light . Thought for the day: You may be healthy and wealthy. You may be beautiful and famous. You may not lack anything physically. Still you lack something. You lack Jesus , the light of the world. If you don’t have this bright light in your life, you are spiritually in darkness. When the light comes darkness disappears. There is no substitute for Jesus Christ.
