Scripture portion: A reading from the book of Galatians chapter 5 Verse 13. For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.
Story: Once upon a time, there was a colourless tiger; all his shades were greys, blacks and whites. So much so, that he seemed like something out of an old black and white movie. His lack of colour made him famous worldwide and the world’s greatest painters had come to the zoo to put some colour on him. But sadly nobody succeeded, as the colours would always drip down his skin. Then came along Van Cough the crazy painter, who never put any paint on his brush and neither did he use canvas or paper. So when he went to paint the colourless tiger, everyone had a good laugh.
Van Cough entered the tiger’s cage and began whispering in the animal`s ear and moving his dry brush up and down the tiger’s body and to everyone’s surprise the tiger’s skin started to take on colour and there were most vivid colours any tiger ever had. Everyone wanted to know what was the painter`s secret. Van Cough told he managed to paint the tiger using a phrase which he kept whispering in its ear. “In just a few days you will be free again, you shall see.” Listening to this the zoo authorities realised how sad the tiger had been in captivity and at the prospect of freedom how joyful he got. So hence they set him free, so as he will never again lose his colour.
Thought for the Day: Our greatest freedom is the freedom to choose our “Attitude”
Let us pray: , Heavenly Father, thank you for the Holy Spirit working inside me. No matter what my external circumstances are ,I know that you are with me and give me the ability to glorify you. I pray that you help me to not use this freedom in vain, but to use my mind and my actions in service to you. Amen.
Let us continue with The Lord’s prayer….
