SCRIPTURE READING
A reading from the second letter of St Paul to the Corinthians Chapter 9 verses 6-8
Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.
STORY
The rich lady and the little kid
On a very cold day, a little boy was standing outside a shoe store, barefooted. He was shivering with cold and was looking through the window at the shoes.
A rich lady came out of that store. While waiting for a ride she saw that little boy. She approached him and said, “Kid, why are you looking so earnestly in that window??”
The little boy replied, “I don’t have any shoes. I was asking God to give me a pair of shoes.”
After listening the lady took the boy inside the shoe store and asked the clerk if she could get a bowl of water and a towel. The clerk brought it in a few minutes and then she took the boy at the back of the store.
She removed her gloves and knelt down, cleaned and dried the little boy’s hands and feet then she bought him back into the shoe store and asked the clerk to bring a pair of socks and shoes.
The clerk bought the socks and shoes and gave them to her. She took those and again knelt down. Placing a pair of socks on the boy’s feet, she gave him a pair of shoes to wear. She bought some more pairs of socks and gave them to him and patted him on the head saying, “Kid, do you feel more comfortable now??”
As she was leaving, the little kid caught her by hand and looked up at her with tears in his eyes, and replied, “Are you, God??”
The moral of the story is ‘The law of prosperity is generosity. If you want more, give more.
PRAYER
Let us join our hands and bow our heads in prayer.
Lord Jesus, teach me to be generous.
Teach me to serve as you deserve,
To give and not to count the cost,
To fight and not to heed the wounds,
To labor and not to seek to rest,
To give of myself and not ask for a reward,
Except for the reward of knowing that I am doing your will.
This prayer we make in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Let us continue by saying the LORD’S PRAYER together.

NATIONAL ANTHEM
THOUGHT OF THE DAY
Generosity is giving more than you can, and pride is taking less than you need.
