POEM
Compassion
-By Robert Service
What puts me in a rage is
The sight of cursed cages
Where singers of the sky
Perch hop instead of fly:
Where lions too and fro
Pace seven yards or so:
I who love space of stars
Have hate bars.
I wince to see dogs chained,
Or horses bit restrained:
Or men of a feeble mind
In straight-jackets confined;
Or convicts in black cells
Enduring earthly hells:
To me not to be free
Is fiendish cruelty.
To me not to be kind
Is evil of the mind.
No need to pray or preach,
Let our children teach
With every fond caress
Pity and gentleness:
So in the end may we
God’s Kingdom brings to be.

PRAYER
Let us pray
Join your hands and bow your heads for the prayer.
Merciful God, Open heart and mind to be fully present to those I interact with throughout the day. Allow me to listen to others without passing judgment or haste to solve what I cannot change. Give me patience and understanding and grant me grace in my shortcomings. Be with me in times of fatigue and lift me up with the strength to carry out your compassionate love to all those I meet. Amen
Let us continue by saying the Lord’s Prayer together.

PLEDGE
Kindly stand to attention for the Pledge and National anthem.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
“Compassion is the greatest form of love humans have to offer.”
Thank you and have a wonderful day.
