SCRIPTURE READING
The scripture reading for today is taken from the letter of St.Paul to the Philippians Chapter 4: Verse 6-7
Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all
understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.
Story:
Albert Einstein was a German theoretical physicist who was born on 14th March,
1879. He did not speak until the age of 3. He had a learning disability due to which he faced a difficult time doing maths in school. It was also very hard for him to express himself through writing. Einstein never performed spectacularly in school. He did so poorly that he nearly decided to drop out.
How did he overcome his disability?
However, with the help of a teacher, he cleared his diploma. After graduating, Einstein had to work many odd jobs to sustain himself. Einstein’s father died believing he was a complete failure. Einstein was absolutely heartbroken.
Eventually, he found employment as a patent clerk. Every day, he would sit down, review patents, and analyze mathematical equations. Patents had a lot of math in them. Einstein loved it and this helped him to live with his difficulty and he achieved success.
Achievements:
He changed the face of physics and science forever by giving many theories. He won a Nobel Prize for his photoelectric effect theory in 1921. He passed away on 18th Apri,1955. As a humanitarian, he also worked toward justice and peace.
Reflection:
Your challenging times and difficulties often lead you to the greatest moments of
your life. Keep going. Tough situations build strong people in the end. When you focus on possibilities, you will have more opportunities.
Prayer:
Loving God, we pray today for those who are confronted by the sadness, ambiguity
and confusion of mental health, and for those upon whom they depend for attention and compassionate care. Look with mercy on all whose afflictions bring them weakness, distress, confusion or isolation. Provide for them homes of dignity and peace; give to them understanding helpers and the willingness to accept help. We ask this in the name of Jesus
Christ our Lord. Amen.
Let us continue by saying the Lord’s Prayer.
The thought for today:
It is up to you to start making healthy choices today. Not choices that
are just healthy for your body but also healthy for your mind.
Significance of the day:
The World Health Organisation recognizes World Mental Health Day on 10 October every year.
The theme of 2022’s World Mental Health is “Make mental health and well-being for all a global priority”
Good Mental Health helps us develop the resilience to cope with whatever life throws at us and grow into well-rounded, healthy adults. Things that can help keep children and young people mentally well include: being in good physical health, eating a balanced diet, getting regular exercise, and having a positive attitude toward challenging situations.
Let us stand to attention for the Preamble & the School song.
Thank you and have a wonderful day.
