Scripture Reading: The scripture reading is taken from Isaiah: chapter 55,
verses 8 & 9.
‛For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,’
declares the Lord. ‛As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways
higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.’
This is the word of the Lord.
Story: The Burning Hut
The only shipwreck survivor was washed up on a small, uninhabited island.
He prayed for God to rescue him. Every day he scanned the horizon for help,
but none seemed forthcoming. Exhausted, he eventually managed to build a
little hut out of driftwood to protect him from the elements and to store his few
possessions. But then one day, after scavenging for food, he arrived home to
find his little hut in flames, the smoke rolling up to the sky. The worst had
happened, everything was lost. He was stunned with grief and anger. ‟God, how
could you do this to me!” he cried.
Early the next morning, he was awakened by the sound
of a ship approaching the island. It had come to rescue him. ‟How did
you know I was here?” asked the man to his rescuers. ‟We saw your smoke
signal,” they replied.
Reflection: We must not get discouraged because God is at work in our lives,
even in the midst of pain and suffering. His ways are higher because they are
always part of a bigger plan which is beyond our understanding.
Thought for the day: A little hut burning to the ground may be a smoke signal
that summons the grace of God.
Let us pray: Heavenly Father, we thank you for the gift of another day. The
ways in which you work are beyond our understanding. Help us not to be
anxious, but trust in you in all situations. We pray for your divine protection
upon our Management, Principal, Vice-Principal, administrators, staff and
students. In Jesus’ precious name I pray. Amen.
Let us continue with the Lord’s Prayer.

Friday of October as World Egg Day in 1996. The theme for this year is ‘Eggs
for a better life’
