Good afternoon school. Today’s assembly will be conducted by IGCSE Year 2.

The scripture reading will be done by Ayaan Siddiqui
The story will be narrated by Tiya Ranawat
The prayer will be read by Rafe Ansari

The Scripture Reading is taken from the book of Mathew, Chapter 6, verse 34.
“ Do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself.
Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. ”

Theme: Living For Today

An Astrologer who lived a long time ago believed that he could read the future
in the stars and spent most of his nights gazing at the sky. He was always busy
worrying about the future and villagers often came to him, hoping to know what
their future holds.

One evening as he was walking outside the village and looking at the stars, he
thought he saw that the end of the world was near. Lost in his thoughts about
the future, he kept walking without looking down and suddenly fell into a big
ditch which was filled with mud and water.

He was sinking in the muddy water, and madly trying to claw at the slippery
sides of the hole, in his effort to climb out. He was unable to crawl out and
fearing for his life, he started screaming for help. His cries for help soon
brought the villagers running.

As they pulled him out of the mud, one of them said, “You pretend to read the
future in the stars, and yet you fail to see what is at your feet! This may teach
you to pay more attention to what is right in front of you, and let the future
take care of itself.”

“What use is it,” said another, “to read the stars, when you can’t see what’s
right here on the earth?”

We all want our future to be bright and happy, and while working towards a
better future we often forget to live for today. We must remember that there
is always a tomorrow to look forward to and improve, but you can’t go back to
yesterday. So, maintain the balance of your present life while you work for a
better tomorrow.

Thought For The Day: Learn from yesterday, live for today, and hope for tomorrow.

Prayer:

God of all blessings, source of all life, giver of all grace in all things, I want to
thank you for the gift of life, for the breath that sustains life, for the food of
this earth that nurtures life, and for the love of family and friends without
which there would be little happiness in life. I thank you for the beauty of
the creation of this great Earth and for the expanse of space that draws us beyond
the definitions of ourselves. Everything in my life and the life that surrounds
me was drawn and created by Your own hand. For this, I am grateful. Amen.

Let us now together say The Lord’s Prayer.
