Afternoon Assembly – 13.07.2022

Class: IGCSE Year 2 (Grade 10)
“What you imagine, is what will transpire. What you believe is what you will achieve” – Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam.
With this beautiful thought, I Yug Daglia along with the entire class of Grade 10 wish all teachers and our dear Principal a Very Happy Guru Purnima. Let’s begin the assembly with a prayer for our dear teachers and most of all our greatest teacher Jesus Christ, You are the potter, I am the clay.

Prayer: O Lord, our Father, we know that every good gift and every perfect gift comes from you. So, we come to you now, to thank you for the gift of good teachers.
Thank you to teachers who teach what is good. Thank you to teachers who use their gift of teaching to serve others. Thank you to the teachers who encourage us with patient instruction. Thank you to the teachers who inspire, build us up, and prepare us for the future.
Thank you, Kind Father, for teachers who teach with all their heart, as though they were working for you. Thank you for teachers who teach with integrity, setting an example of goodness. Thank you to teachers who teach with wisdom and kindness.
Thank you, Heavenly Father, for teachers who go out of their way to help weaker students. Thank you for teachers who exemplify Christ’s teaching of “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” We ask, Lord, that you repay our teachers for all they have done, and that you bless them with a full reward.
O Lord, please bless our teachers; make your face shine upon them and be gracious to them; Lord, look upon our teachers and shower them with peace. Amen.
Today’s scripture reading is taken from the book of Exodus, Chapter 18, Verse 11.
“And you shall teach them the statutes and the laws, and show them the way in which they must walk and the work they must do.”
Let us now together say The Lord’s Prayer.
Ananya Jamdar will now continue with the history of Guru Purnima, and Rehaan Shah will read the Preamble to the Indian Constitution.

Theme: Guru Purnima
Guru Purnima is dedicated to all academic and spiritual gurus or teachers. The term ‘Gu’ in Guru stands for darkness, and ‘Ru’ means removal of darkness thus, a guru is someone who removes all darkness from our lives. People in India celebrate this festival by paying their respect to their spiritual leaders and teachers whereas in Nepal, the festival is observed as Teacher’s Day.
Guru Purnima marks the relationship between students and teachers. In today’s time, it has been said that teachers play the most important role in the lives of students. Apart from imparting education and teaching other co-curricular and non-curricular skills, teachers also familiarise students with values and life skills that help them deal with the outside world once they become adults.
Schools, colleges and other educational institutions across India celebrate Guru Purnima by organising various events to thank the teachers in bringing out the best in students. So, on this day, students, lets thank our teachers for sharing their knowledge and enlightening us.
