Good afternoon school it’s Tuesday and you can smell the freshness of the week and
enthusiasm in the atmosphere. I am Bhavya Jain and I would like to welcome you all
to this afternoon’s assembly
Let’s start today’s assembly by remembering God whose blessings boost our energy
to lead us through.
We will sing the hymn Way Maker.
(Hymn)
The scripture will be read by Shahan Jasoomani, the story will be read out by Sysha
Ranka, Jiyan Jain will lead us in prayer and Sysha Ranka will read the National
Pledge.
On July 26, the Feast Day of St. Anne and St. Joachim, we honor the lives of Mary’s
parents, the earthly grandparents of Jesus. To be the parents of Jesus’s earthly mother,
Saint Anne and Saint Joachim must have been faithful, devoted parents indeed. The
patronage of Saint Anne includes grandparents, couples without children, women in
labor, and women unable to conceive. Likewise, Saint Joachim is considered the
patron of grandfathers, fathers, and grandparents.
Today’s scripture is taken from the book of Jeremiah, chapter 29 verse 11.
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and
not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
(PAUSE) This is the Word of the Lord.
Kindly be seated and listen to today’s short story:
In 1836, George Muller opened his first orphanage on Wilson Street. At first, there
were no children and then he realized he and his wife had not prayed for children.
Once they started praying, children came pouring in. Muller had to build multiple
orphanages, because of the demand. Eventually, there were too many children on
Wilson Street. The neighbors started complaining about the children. Muller knew it
was time to start looking for a new place. As usual, he prayed for a future home for
the orphanages. The orphanages eventually moved to Ashley Down, where there was
more room for the children and for the orphanages to grow.
One morning, the children were hungry and had gotten ready for school. They sat
down at the table and blessed the food that was to come. All of the sudden, there was
a knock at the door. Standing in the doorway, was the baker. He told Muller that he
couldn’t sleep and decided to bake bread for the children. The next moment, there
was a knock at
the door. Standing there was the milkman. His truck had broken down and he wanted
to give all the milk to the orphans before it spoiled. It was just enough food for the
orphans to have their fill.
Thought for Today:
All your resources are in the end the gift of God.
Kindly compose yourself for the prayer
Dear God, We praise you for your mighty deeds! You are the Waymaker, the Miracle
Worker, the God who saves. We worship you for your mighty acts and extol you for
the power you have displayed in our lives! Amen
Let us all say the Lord’s Prayer.
Kindly stand at attention as the National Pledge is read out.
