All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty
Story
The sports day was approaching in the school.Everyone was ready for the race.
A boy named Tim who was the best runner in his school always wins the race. The sports day was approaching but he was not practising because he was confident of winning again.His mother said, “You have to work hard to win the race and you are doing nothing and becoming lazy.”Tim confidently replied, “There is no one in my class who can defeat me, so relax”In the same class a boy named Jim was practising for the sports day.Jim was a hard-working boy who was practising day and night.The day came when the crowd gathered at the stadium and everyone cheered for their favourites.The coach blew the whistle and everyone started to reach the finish line.Jim and Tim left every athlete behind, and the competition was now just between the two of them.The two were running side by side but suddenly Tim took the lead.Everyone was cheering for Tim as he was ahead and when they both got closer to the finish , Jim picked up speed and crossed the finish line first.Jim surprised everyone with his brilliant performance.He took the trophy Tim’s mother congratulated Jim for his hard work.Jim smiled and said thanks.Tim’s head was down in shame.His mother turned to him and said, “Talent is nothing without hard work. Jim put all his strength and worked hard. That is why he’s been rewarded. Hard work is the only way to success!”
Thought for the day:
There are no short cuts to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work and learning from failure.
Let us pray :
Dear Master of the Universe,
We pray to give us the energy to work hard, for the wisdom to be smart as we move forward towards success. We pray for your wisdom to overcome our daily challenges. Lord, we pray and request that you walk along with us, as we walk forward. Comfort us when work becomes too much and too hard. Encourage us to move forward despite the hardships we face. Encourage us to practise a lot so that we can become experts at work. We ask this in Jesus’ most precious name. Amen
