Good afternoon school on this wonderful warm Tuesday afternoon. Let us give
thanks to God for His blessings upon us and join the choir as we sing the hymn ‘This
is the day’.
(Hymn)
Today’s assembly is conducted by Grade 6. The scripture will be read by Mali Ding,
Burhanuddin Lakdawala will lead us in prayer. The story will be read-out by
Amatullah Bhanpurwala and the Preamble will be read by Ibrahim Runderawala.
Today’s scripture is taken from The Gospel of John, chapter 11, verse 25:
Jesus said to her, “I am the Resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me,
though he dies, yet shall he live”.
(PAUSE) This is the word of the Lord.
Kindly be seated and listen to today’s short story.
The Resurrection of Jesus:
Jesus came back to life after 3 days.
On the 3rd day after Jesus died, early morning when Mary Magdalene went to anoint
Jesus’ body with spices as was the custom of the Jews, she found the tomb rolled
over, and an angel of God told her that Jesus is risen from the dead.
She immediately ran and informed the other disciples. Later Jesus appeared to
them too, but one disciple named Thomas was not present when Jesus appeared to
them.
And it was impossible for him to believe that physically the dead can be bought back
to Life and he said that unless he sees the print of the nails in the hands of Jesus
and put his finger into the print of the nails, and put his hand into Jesus’ side, he
won’t believe.
After 8 days, when the disciples had gathered again, and now Thomas also being
present, Jesus appeared to them again and he directly spoke to Thomas saying
“Reach your finger here, and look at My hands; and reach your hand here, and put it
into My side. Do not be unbelieving, but believing.”
Jesus not only appeared to him but also heard his unbelief and corrected him. Then
Thomas realized and he believed.
And Jesus said to him, “Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed.
Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”
Thought of the day:
Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God.
Kindly compose yourself for the prayer.
Lord, we confess our endless need for You. We ask that You renew our hearts,
minds and lives, for the days ahead.
We pray for Your refreshing covering over us that we may be obedient to the
Father’s will and walk the way You did, giving up Yourself for love and service.
Keep Your words of truth planted firm within us. Help us to keep focus on what
is pure and right. Give us the power to be obedient to Your commands.
We pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Let us all say the Lord’s prayer.
Kindly Stand at attention as the Preamble is read out.
